Choices Being Made Between Two Sides — Tuesday, June 16

Choices Being Made Between Two Sides — Tuesday, June 16

A line is being drawn every day. In the small choices we make when truth is inconvenient, we declare which side we stand on.

"You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute. Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked."
— Exodus 23:6, 7 (NKJV)

There is a line being drawn. And every day — in ways large and small — we choose which side of it we stand on.

As I reflected on this passage, I was struck by how seriously God takes justice. He doesn’t just ask us to avoid outright wickedness. He asks us to stay far from false matters. Not close to them. Not occasionally near them. Far.

"Characters are now being developed, and many are taking sides, some on the side of the Lord Jesus Christ, some on the side of Satan and his angels."

— Ellen G. White, This Day With God, 222

I have noticed that this choosing of sides rarely happens in one dramatic moment. It happens slowly — in the small choices we make when the truth is inconvenient, when justice would cost us something, when the vulnerable need a voice and we decide to stay quiet.

There are many people around us who appear moral but whose character carries an alloy that destroys the value of the gold. They cannot receive the stamp of divine approval because their allegiance is divided. But we are called to be undivided — stamped with the impress of Christ, not the world.

Perhaps today you are facing a choice that feels small. A matter at work. A relationship. A decision about what to say — or not say. God sees every choice. He is watching the development of character with infinite care. And He offers you His righteousness — not as a reward for getting it right, but as a gift that makes getting it right possible.

Choose Christ today. Every small choice is a declaration.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, I want to be found on Your side. Not just in the big moments, but in the quiet daily ones where character is actually formed. Give me discernment to stay far from every false matter, and courage to stand with the innocent and the vulnerable. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
