Handling Money to Meet God’s Approval — Wednesday, June 17

Handling Money to Meet God’s Approval — Wednesday, June 17

Where is your treasure? And where, therefore, is your heart? A midweek reflection on handling money to meet God’s approval.

"Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
— Matthew 6:20, 21 (NKJV)

Midweek. We are right in the middle of the week — and God is speaking to us about something that touches almost every area of our lives.

I will be honest with you — this is one of those passages that has a way of asking questions I am not always ready to answer. Where is my treasure? And where, therefore, is my heart?

Ellen G. White paints a sobering picture of parents who spend their entire lives accumulating wealth to pass on to their children — only to discover that in doing so, they have robbed themselves of heavenly treasure and robbed God’s cause of resources that could have changed lives.

"Parents should lay up for themselves treasures in heaven by appropriating their means themselves to the advancement of the cause of God… by so doing they not only deprive themselves of the precious privilege of laying up a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, but they rob the treasury of God."

— Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church 3:119, 120

On this Wednesday — this midpoint of the week — I want to invite you to stop and ask God a quiet, honest question: Am I handling what You have given me in a way that You can approve?

Not with guilt. Not with anxiety. But with the same honesty that Jesus asked us to bring to the sanctuary of prayer. Because our money and our heart are always connected. Jesus said so. And the way we handle what we have is one of the clearest indicators of where we actually believe our security lies.

God is not asking you to give everything away today. He is asking you to hold everything loosely — and to let Him be the one your heart runs toward when the pressures of this week pile up.

Lay up treasure in heaven. It is the only investment that never fails.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, I bring You my heart and my hands this Wednesday. Show me where I have allowed money, security, or accumulation to crowd out trust in You. Teach me to hold what I have as a steward, not an owner. And help me to invest in the things that last — the advancement of Your cause and the blessing of those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
