Bible prophecy can seem mysterious at first, but God never intended prophecy to confuse His people. Throughout Scripture, the Lord uses symbols, illustrations, and prophetic language to reveal His plans for humanity and to strengthen the faith of those who trust Him.

 

The book of Revelation opens with a blessing:

Why Does God Use Symbols?

 

Prophetic symbols allow God to reveal events that span centuries and involve nations, kingdoms, churches, and spiritual realities.

 

Instead of listing every detail literally, God uses pictures and symbols that carry deep meaning.

 

The same symbols often appear throughout Scripture, allowing the Bible to interpret itself.

Beasts Represent Kingdoms

 

In Daniel 7, four beasts rise from the sea.

Beasts represent kingdoms or political powers.

- Lion = Babylon

- Bear = Medo-Persia
